More Short Memories

Brandy Marie
The "Vick apologist" don't get it. I lost my dog Brandy back in May and would give anything to have her back. Vick hung the dogs that didn't perform (fight) for him and when they didn't die that way he took them down and stuck their head in a five gallon bucket and drowned them with his bare hands. Vick tortured and killed dogs for years, "Beginning in or about early-2001 and continuing through on or about April 25, 2007,"Read Michael Vick's Indictment

Michael Vick is a sociopath and did not serve all of his time for the crimes he committed. He was supposed to go on trial in Virginia for State crimes and it never happened. I wonder why? I'd be willing to bet he never even received any mental health treatment. Most people probably don't even know the whole truth about what he did.
But you can argue until your blue in the face you will not get through to the people who think he has done no wrong. I honestly think Paul Tagliabue would not have let Vick back into the league. He cared too much for the leagues image. Goodell has ruined the NFL and driven fans away. But who cares as long as Vick can make them millions!

Keith Olbermann Suspends Twitter Account After Attacks Over Handling Of Assange Rape Allegations

Have people just gone blind? You see it every day in the news right in your own neighborhoods. I can't recall any cases of alleged rape where the accused is treated the way Assange is being treated and most women who have been through it are probably insulted that the "authorities" won't do anymore to the people who have been accused with much more evidence. We are beginning to live in an upside down world and it isn't getting any better.

Tax Cut Bill Passes Senate On 81-19 Vote

Except you can now take the word "developing" from your comment. Thanks to the Democrats who have no balls we will probably not be developing anything for some time to come. Irresponsible is an understatement. Moodys has already stated if the tax bill passes they will be forced to lower our credit rating wiping out any stimulative effect the bill MAY have. By our credit rating getting lowered means we'll be paying more interest on the debt we will accrue to give the rich money... I mean tax cuts.

Turkey Spared -- But Obama's Compassion For Humans Comes Up Short

My thoughts exactly. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. I see it as him being particular and not pardoning or commuting sentences just for the sake of doing it. This article or post, whatever you want to call it, comes off as a hit piece with the bias dripping from the edges. "cybersense" posted a link that shows President Obama is pretty much par for the course for this area so we are just getting another example of what shouldn't constitute "journalism" and being aimed at people who would lap it up. No wonder we are losing faith in media with lack of journalistic integrity. More ammunition for the "echo chamber".

Tony Hopfinger, Reporter Detained By Joe Miller's Security Guards, Speaks Out About Ordeal (VIDEO)

These people have no respect for nobody. They look down their noses at others they feel are below them. Miller steadily refers to Tony Hopfinger as a blogger when he is an accomplished reporter, If you have the stomach to visit the C4P site, they refer to the "democrat party" knowing d**n well it is the Democratic Party. Why anyone would consider giving these people your vote much less your time is beyond me. If you don't agree with them they don't have the time of day for you. No civility! No honor! No respect!

Joe Miller Security Guards Handcuff & Detain 'Alaska Dispatch' Editor

One of the guards grabbed Hopfinger's video camera. Later, Hopfinger said that when he got the camera back, the segment covering the span of the arrest was missing. An Anchorage police officer offered to take the camera into custody and have it examined in the crime lab to investigate whether evidence had been destroyed, but Hopfinger declined. He said he needed the camera and the remaining video for his work.

"The guard who grabbed the camera said Hopfinger had dropped it in the scuffle and denied erasing anything. The guard wouldn't give his name.

While Hopfinger was still in handcuffs, the guards attempted to prevent other reporters from talking to him and threatened them too with arrest for trespass."

_____________________________________________________________________

And the Tea party people want to accuse President Obama of making us live in a police state.

And the Miller campaign condones this:

"The Miller campaign released a written one-paragraph statement from Fuller, then followed with a statement titled, "Liberal Blogger 'Loses It' at Town Hall Meeting." In that statement, Miller accused Hopfinger of assaulting someone and of taking advantage of the meeting to "create a publicity stunt.""

So far it shows what Democrats have done to revive the economy and it's a GOP.gov cite.

Democratic Enthusiasm Gap: Large Number Of Obama Supporters Defecting To GOP

Karl Rove Denies GOP Gets Cash From Foreign Sources (VIDEO)

"Karl Rove Denies GOP Gets Cash From Foreign Sources" is the worst and most misleading headline I've seen yet! I didn't hear Rove deny a thing. What's curious is Republicans want to argue money is fungible when you are receiving Federal help like food stamps or Medicaid. They claim money is fungible when it comes to abortions but in this case you don't hear the same argument. Only when it's convenient for them....

Michigan Federal Judge Rejects Challenge To Health Care Overhaul

"The four individual plaintiffs said they do not have private insurance and object to being compelled to buy it. They also fear that any financial penalty paid to the government if they don't get insurance by 2014 would be used to pay for abortions."

_______________________________________________________________________

Is this a joke? The money they are spending in attorney fees will probably pay a lifetime of premiums. And if the Government money is going towards paying for abortions, which it isn't, then wouldn't the taxes the attorneys are paying in turn be going towards abortions. These people are full of it. They are only being against this just for the sake of being against it, otherwise they would read the law and see that none of the money will be going towards abortion.

The Untold Story of TARP

I'm no financial expert by any stretch but TARP was necessary and I understand the gist of it. There was more at stake than Wall Street and god forbid I'm not going to defend them but TARP wasn't just for Wall Street but to keep the global economy from tanking. Yes, we would have survived without TARP but if you think things are bad now, it would have been ten times worse. As far as the rest of us not on Wall Street there was the stimulus, which had nothing to do with TARP, that was passed by President Obama despite the lack of help from most Republicans. Had President Obama gotten what he wanted and what he knew was needed we would be much better off right now. But thanks to Republican obstructionism it wound up getting cut in half and therefore only got the job halfway done.

Sen. Jim DeMint: Gays And Unmarried, Pregnant Women Should Not Teach Public School

And that is exactly what I admire about most Gay people. They are unnecessarily forced to take the harder road in life to be true to themselves just to have to hear people like DeMint make the hurtful comments he makes. It's sad that all Gay people don't have the strength to be able to be true to themselves. I don't fault them for that. Not everybody is ready to deal with the hate and bigotry that is prevalent in our Country these days. Some families aren't even willing to deal with someone being Gay in their own family. So much for unconditional love. But I try to be supportive of any of my Gay friends which are the friends you usually know exactly where you stand with because they aren't hiding anything. And I hope they know it.

Sen. Jim DeMint: Gays And Unmarried, Pregnant Women Should Not Teach Public School

Sadly, someone like DeMint is going to be able to walk right back into the Senate because of some suspicious dealings in the primaries in SC. I did love the question another commenter brought up which I would love to hear Sarah Palin answer and that was "would Bristol Palin be allowed to teach?"

The problem with this line of thinking is it would require more Government to peer into my bedroom to know what I was doing so you could determine my job status. You know,a larger Government.

This kind of hate speech should not be tolerated by regular citizens on a commonsense level. It just amazes me these are the same people, who make comments like DeMint make, that compare President Obama to Hitler. Do you see the irony there?

Tens Of Thousands Of Progressives Rally At The Lincoln Memorial For Jobs, Justice And Education

Why do people want to compare the numbers of attendees to Becks rally when Beck was promoting his book signing... I mean rally, for about a year. Becks "rally" was originally planned as a promotion for his book and somewhere along the line it morphed into a "Rally". It was only in the final days leading up to the "rally" that his people told him be shouldn't mention his book. Regardless it's like comparing apples to oranges and if I had a way I would much rather be at the "One Nation" rally before I would want to go to a Glenn Beck book promotion. Not to mention days later have to pay to attend a "Rally" on Sept.11 in Alaska.

The Republicans have no leadership and to quote Lewis Rothschild from the movie "The American President" -"They want leadership. They're so thirsty for it they'll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there's no water, they'll drink the sand." and Glenn Beck is the sand.

Unemployment, Economy Forcing Savers To Give Up $5 Billion A Year

The siphoning of our wealth, the middle class and the poor, won't stop until it's all sucked up. What's going to happen when the savings are gone and there are no other alternatives. It started with the raising of gas prices. Precisely when Bush allowed the gas gouging laws, the ones President Clinton put in place, were allowed to expire. I literally watched gas prices rise $0.20 within one hour of them expiring and it never stopped rising since until we, here in NC, hit almost $5.00/gallon. Then the price of everything else followed. I was just surprised it took as long as it did.

Karl Rove Plans Republican Comeback For 2010 Elections

If Republicans are mistaking "lack of enthusiasm" for a general lack of understanding they are sadly mistaken. Most people might be displeased with the way things are going and some people just had too high of an expectation of what was going to happen after Nov. 2008 but our memories aren't that short. Karl Rove is lining up the same cast of characters to try and steal the show but we know how that episode will end. Legitimate people of the Tea Party movement need to wise up and realize that even if the people you are backing win the Republicans are just going to run roughshod over them and push through their agenda anyway. This article proves that Republicans are just trying to manipulate you. Republicans have been proven time and time again to lie, cheat, and steal to get what they want. They say it proudly, "whatever it takes" and they mean it. This Country is not in a position to allow the Republicans to win even one seat much less one part of Congress. We don't stand a chance of getting back to the great Country we once were or even thought we were if the Republicans make any gains. I think they are underestimating the reasonable amount of people in this Country and I hope my fellow citizens prove me right.

Americans Don't Eat Enough Vegetables, Despite Obesity, Health Concerns

This is priceless! you have people commenting on your post telling you how your brother and two nephews should eat when they have done nothing but post their own comments about how the Government is telling them how to eat, which it is not. Let's be generous and call it advice. Either way they know not what they speak. There is an excellent article at Snopes.com on how eating fruit on an empty stomach is fine. It's not an attack, it's an observation. The Government hasn't done anything accept try to educate people. You are taking the use of initiatives and guidelines as the Government telling you how to eat. The only "Laws" against foods are typically on the State and local level. You shouldn't take education as an attack against you. I can go out and buy whatever garbage I wish to put in my body but thanks to the Government I now have the knowledge of what is in the food if I don't want to eat the garbage. If it was up to the "Free Market" they wouldn't tell me jack if they thought it would cut into there bottom line. And yes, I believe there is a link between certain people being paranoid and Alzheimer's.

You are absolutely correct. I've been out of work for two and one half years and have no income for the last six months. My father-in-law supports me and my wife and loves being able to do it. I am truly grateful for him and try to go with the minimum and not put too much stress on him. We, especially me, have put on some extra weight because it is cheaper to buy the boxed foods than the right foods. I've been trying lately to get more of the right foods and easily notice it cost more and it doesn't go as far. I wish I had an answer and maybe going through these comments may give me some better ideas but either way something has to be done.

Citi Boosts Executive Pay

I am a woodworker and cabinet builder by trade. I learned and taught myself by working for family shops and businesses in the beginning. As I learned more I got paid more. Made sense to me so I worked hard and became one of the best builders in the area and made a good name for myself. After working in two different family shops for about fifteen years I went to work at a local boat company who was shortly taken over by Brunswick. Gone were the days of working hard and showing you are worth more money. You had to be somebody's buddy who was in upper management to get any kind of decent yearly raise above a quarter. My supervisor was dumb as a rock and I had more experience being a supervisor from my previous job but because he was best friends with the plant manager he made almost twice what I made. Everybody who worked there knew how the politics worked but if you wanted to have a job you didn't question it. It's a small town and not many jobs and that was then. When the layoffs started happening in 2008 they were letting excellent workers go and keeping their friends who didn't do anything but stand around talking for the majority of the day. But I guess the people who got laid off were "an enemy of America" so it's okay. Your post was probably the worst post I've seen, ever!

Senate GOP Blocks Consideration Of DADT Repeal

Sen. George Voinovich of Ohio:

"At this point there is no reason to rush to judgment for political expediency until we hear from our military leaders as to whether they think it is a good idea to change this policy. I will carefully study this determination when it is completed."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DADT has been deemed Unconstitutional and is Unconstitutional. The Senate is not doing their job that they took an oath to do which is to uphold the Constitution. Mostly Republicans but also some Democrats. The Republicans and the Tea Party which is one in the same want to invoke "Our Forefathers" when trying to indoctrinate everyone to think like they do but I believe "Our Forefathers" would cry in shame to see what their country that they fought with blood and tears to build has become. In some ways they would beam with pride but in others, albeit with some extended education, would mourn. It is sad. It is not the military's job to make a report to decide what part of the Constitution they will abide by.

Tea Party Groups Out AGAINST Net Neutrality

My DSL went down the other night. Something simple to fix if I had a decent ISP. I have a third party ISP whose office hours are 9:00am to 8:00pm and I had to wait until they came in at 9:00am to reset their equipment. Luckily or not, I they let there customers also keep their old dial-up accounts so I could use my modem and dial in until they fixed the problem. It was actually pretty useless because everything is so high speed a 56k modem can't even keep up with the simplest of sites, not to mention this site. I barely get by now because all I can afford is 1.5mb DSL and I really don't want my surf speed getting throttled just because the site I want to go to doesn't pay as much as their competitor. Dr. Laura's N-Word Rant: Radio Host Apologizes For Offensive Language (AUDIO)

Dr. Laura Schlessinger is wrong. Just because comedians , HBO, or any other person, black or white, uses the "N" word doesn't make it right. If we wish to become a society that wants to aspire to it's lowest common denominator then yes she would be correct. I do not. I always want to try to better myself.

As far as her claiming black people voted for President Obama just because he was black was racist in itself. Of all the black people I know and discussed politics with voted for him because he was their only viable candidate. Yes, they were proud to have someone they could embrace. Black people weren't blind, they saw the racist coming out in droves to the McCain/Palin rallies. Most white people didn't vote for them much less black people. I also don't go around asking my friends what or why they do something based on their skin color or race. I know there are going to be cultural differences and I accept that, not question it at every turn. People say dumb things like "why do black people like fried chicken or watermelon?" when I eat more fried chicken and watermelon than any person I know, black, white, or purple! We can and should discuss race in this day and time but it should be done in a sensitive and tolerant way and Dr. Laura Schlessinger did neither. Just because she is smart and educated doesn't make her always right.

Eric Schmidt On Privacy (VIDEO): Google CEO Says Anonymity Online Is 'Dangerous'

I hope you are right but the only thing you mention that I don't think is happening yet is it being sold. With direction this country is heading in relation to corporations nothing would surprise me. The other day I did a Google on a statement someone made in one of their comments here on Huffington Post and the first links that came up were the comments I was researching. I know it's not the privacy issue but it astounded me at how fast it showed up.

Eric Schmidt On Privacy (VIDEO): Google CEO Says Anonymity Online Is 'Dangerous'

Someone is watching your online traffic at all times whether it's your ISP. the Govt., or some hacker god only knows where. I truly have no real expectation of privacy on the internet. I wished I did but I don't.

Stewart Takes On Ground Zero Mosque Critics (VIDEO)

My mother was raised Catholic. School and the whole nine yards. She had both of my sisters baptized Catholic. When I was born she tried to have me baptized Catholic and the church wouldn't allow it because St.George was no longer considered a saint or something like that. All I know is they would not allow her to baptize me unless she changed my name, that wasn't going to happen, it was a third generation name.

She stopped going to church, I don't know why. I grew up going to various churches and eventually got baptized at a small nondenominational church in Brandywine, Md. as a surprise for my soon to be wife. After we got married at a nice Baptist church here in NC we thought we would go to church there and become members. This is a church I went to as a kid, among the various other churches of several denominations. When we asked what we had to do to become members we were told to get some kind of formal letter where we were originally baptized. When we asked the people at the church in Brandywine about it they said they didn't do that stuff because anybody was welcome in their church. When we told the cul.. I mean people at Bethel Baptist this they said we couldn't join but we were welcome to come to service whenever we liked. Being refused from two different churches I relate more with Deist like our Founding Fathers.
