The sad part of this story is people don't even realize they really do need some insurance for long term care. I have seen it with my own eyes. If you think your medical insurance or medicare will cover this you are mistaken. If your spouse is still relatively fine and doesn't require skilled nursing care they will be put in a position to either pay $7,000 a month or more for their spouse or file for medicaid.
If you have to file for medicaid you will be forced to get your assets down to a certain level before medicaid will kick in. In the meantime you are stuck paying the $7,000 a month and that is a low estimate.
