Obama Fights Back Against Idea He's Reason For High Gas Prices

“Only in politics do people greet bad news so enthusiastically,” Obama said. “You pay more, and they’re licking their chops? And you can bet that since it’s an election year, they’re already dusting off their three-point plans for $2 gas.”

~President Obama

When you see the glee in Republicans faces because Americans are hurting then something is wrong with that person. You even have people on this site using the quote ""Under my energy policy, electricity rates would necessarilly [sic] skyrocket." which is disingenuous at best. The actual quote is "Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket" but what's a misquote when you want to mislead people.

When Obama made that statement to the San Francisco Chronicle he was simply trying to explain there would be a sacrifice to get us on the track to more renewable energy. Regardless he has already dropped his support for "cap and trade" so it really makes the quote moot! In the end if you are going to decide your vote based on the false premise that the President can control the price of gas then you weren't going to vote for him anyway. The logic just doesn't fit. Wouldn't he lower gas prices so you would vote for him?

Chris Christie To Warren Buffett: 'Just Write A Check And Shut Up'

Christie is a symptom and possibly a very part of the problem with today's political discourse. There used to be a day when you could disagree with someone without being obnoxious. But Christie feels he needs to show his mettle by provoking peoples animosity towards their fictitious adversary. By doing so most people don't/won't stop to think that Warren Buffet is actually standing up for them.

People like Christie have infected their psyche to think you would vote for them because they are fiery and say things like you would say. We used to expect our leaders to show respect and have some form of decorum. Instead they say things in public like "shut up" despite the fact they are supposed to represent everyone and what our Constitution says. Where are the ethics complaints. The sad part is I don't see our Country getting back to the civil discourse we used to have and show. The end is nigh!

Virginia Ultrasound Bill Passes In House [UPDATE]

"Should a doctor determine that another form of ultrasound may be necessary to provide the necessary images and information that will be an issue for the doctor and the patient. The government will have no role in that medical decision,"

The Government has no "role" in any medical decision, period! That statement alone should be enough to make this law fail on Constitutional grounds. If not then that will be the final straw and there will be no turning back for our Country and way of life.

Mitt Romney: Obama Administration Has 'Fought Against Religion'

"Anne Frank, the Jewish girl whose diary and death in a Nazi concentration camp made her a symbol of the Holocaust, was allegedly baptized posthumously Saturday by a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, according to whistleblower Helen Radkey, a former member of the church."

It seems to me his "religion" is pushing to fight with the Jewish faith. It takes balls to make the comment he has made against our President yet his faith is pulling stunts like this. The ultimate disrespect for another persons faith. Wow!

Rick Santorum-Linked Hospital Chain Saw Suicide Attempts, Abuse, And Loss Of Parents' Rights

"In top-down, government run systems, patients become commodities, and their value is based on their usefulness to society," Santorum elaborated to The Huffington Post. "Often times, those with special needs are not viewed as 'useful' by society's standards -- and far too many like our little girl have been forced to receive inadequate care and in many instances no care at all."

"We need a health care system that provides consumers the best choices for the best care available. These choices should not be left in the hands of bureaucrats to judge an individual's value. Instead we should place that choice in the hands of the consumer -- the children and the parents -- who can make the best choices for their individual circumstance."

____________________________________________________________

He claims in "government run systems, patients become commodities" and then out of the other side of his mouth, or some other orifice, says "we should place that choice in the hands of the consumer"!?

WTF? do people really listen to what he says or are they too busy raising their hands in the air, or wallet, praising him. These are the same people who claimed we thought Obama was the "Messiah". This man is sick. We all thought - she whose name I will not speak - had issues and rightfully so but what is trailing behind her in the rest of the clown car parade plainly need help. Maybe it's time we lengthen the bus!

Whitney Houston Funeral Live Blog

As a fan of music I am sad to see Whitney's passing. For those that feel they have to make nasty comments on a thread dedicated to celebrating what Whitney gave to us in her universal language of music, all I can say is I pity you. You are so self denigrating that you feel you must click a link that you know you won't like, for whatever reason, and spread your vile. Then you want to question "what is wrong with this Country?". I think you know the answer and just don't have the guts to admit it to yourself.

Payroll Tax Deal Would Allow Drug Testing, Reduce Unemployment Benefits To 73 Weeks [UPDATE]

If this garbage is passed we need to speak up louder than we did with the whole Komen fiasco. I don't even think it will pass the Supreme Court which is where it will end up. Just more taxpayer money wasted.

Jon Stewart Slams Liz Trotta's Views On Sexual Assault On Women In Military (VIDEO)

You can read the report for yourself. I am in no way trying to diminish the problem but Fox would have you believe the numbers were astronomical when in fact they aren't. 64% sounds much larger than the actual 65 in the report.

I am sure the unreported numbers are actually much higher but Fox and Liz are not entitled to their own facts. That being said it shouldn't be tolerated in any fashion and the women are not to blame like they would have you believe.

Jon Stewart Slams Liz Trotta's Views On Sexual Assault On Women In Military (VIDEO)

“The reality today is that military academies are insular environments where sexual predators face little risk of prosecution, and survivors have little hope for institutional protections,” continued Bhagwati. “The academies integrated in 1976 and it took 30 years before a West Point cadet was convicted on a rape charge. Although cadets are finally being prosecuted for sexual offenses, the punishment rarely fits the crime. To change the current culture of impunity, we must hold military leaders accountable by demanding that they support survivors and relentlessly prosecute sexual predators.”

According to the report there were 65 reports of sexual assault. They then further break those down to "restricted" and "unrestricted" meaning basically handed over to law enforcement and handled internally. Fox is making it out to be some massive number when in actuality it is not. Nothing new here.

Jon Stewart Slams Liz Trotta's Views On Sexual Assault On Women In Military (VIDEO)

I have trouble digesting this. These soldiers go through boot camp and are stripped of their own self being, for lack of a better word, and rebuilt to function in the military. We are told if soldiers don't follow orders then people die. So who is tolerating the behavior. Shouldn't be as simple as someone reporting the bad behavior and it being put to rest then and there. Follow orders or get kicked out or some other punishment.

It should be that simple but I expect somewhere in the chain of command someone is just looking the other way. Either way, the logic here is flawed and it will take a better expert than me to figure it out.

Total Health Care Costs Fall When Poor Are Provided Insurance: Study

Total Health Care Costs Fall When Poor Are Provided Insurance: Study

The concept of support for universal health care is taboo among Republicans who scrutinize the Affordable Care Act -- dubbing it the "Job-Killing Health Care Law Act" -- and call for its repeal. But a new UC Irvine study challenges the GOP argument that the health care law is too costly, with data illustrating that health care costs on the whole fall when poorer, uninsured patients are provided with insurance.
"In a case study involving low-income people enrolled in a community-based health insurance program, we found that use of primary care increased but use of emergency services fell, and -- over time -- total health care costs declined," David Neumark, a co-author of the study, said in a release accompanying the findings.

Mitch McConnell Wants Vote On Birth Control Mandate

I'm 61, don't use checkups, tests or drugs, and I won't pay for those who do. Articles here pitch contracept
ion as a benefit, but it costs employers more and they take it out of workers pay. It's why wages haven't gone up in 30 years, they went to pay for increasing medical coverage. Now the average family policy costs $14K, and the retired and self-employed can't afford it - but ACA

This is my response to the comment posted at the link above. However, the responses that everyone else made were so much more impressive. Check the link above to see what I am referring to.

Reply:

What about the 28 states that already have this requirement or the 8 that don't allow churches out of that requirement. Everything you stated has already been debunked in science and the many comments posted here. That said, if Republicans want to run on "contraception" then I'm sure that is a fight the Democrats would love to have. The majority of Americans understand the importance of contraception along with the medical necessity of it in a lot of instances.

President Obama Bemoans First Lady Michelle Being Dragged Into Politics

Republicans are the first ones to say "keep family out of it" but then proceed to attack the oppositions family. Truth is Michelle Obama has done nothing to be critical of. She has not been political in any sense of the word. If you think her advocating for the health of our children is worthy of attack then you can't be helped.

Those of you trying to defend her against these people, though you efforts are honorable, you are fighting a losing battle. The first family has shown nothing but class and if people are going after them for their family values it is truly out of envy or other reasons they would never admit. These are the same people who drive past the white line in the turn lane and then get mad because the light won't turn green. You are fighting a losing battle.

House Votes To Repeal CLASS Act, Part Of 2010 Obama Health Care Law

The sad part of this story is people don't even realize they really do need some insurance for long term care. I have seen it with my own eyes. If you think your medical insurance or medicare will cover this you are mistaken. If your spouse is still relatively fine and doesn't require skilled nursing care they will be put in a position to either pay $7,000 a month or more for their spouse or file for medicaid.

If you have to file for medicaid you will be forced to get your assets down to a certain level before medicaid will kick in. In the meantime you are stuck paying the $7,000 a month and that is a low estimate. It is sad watching your loved ones have to get rid of everything they spent their life building up to pass on to their children. It is essentially like getting divorced minus the official paperwork.

More should be done to educate people and make them aware of the consequences of not having this coverage.

Komen Cuts Planned Parenthood Grants Months After Arrival Of New VP, Who Is Abortion Foe

I would like to thank Karen Handel for the bone-headed move. It gave me cause to look up the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and research what exactly they do. It isn't a very rosy picture. It becomes disconcerting when you find that only about 16% of the nearly $400 million they bring in annually goes towards research of breast cancer. Or the $60 bottle of perfume they brought online in the name breast cancer research, which is potentially considered a carcinogen, only gives $1.50 of it's proceeds towards research.

I'm sure there is much more to be learned and I won't quit until more of a spotlight is shown on this organization that is of women and against women. Shame on them!

Komen Cuts Planned Parenthood Grants Months After Arrival Of New VP, Who Is Abortion Foe

I give a lot to Breast Cancer awareness. I may not be wealthy and able to cut large checks but I do support with my wallet. When I see products that give portions of their proceeds to Breast Cancer Awareness I will purchase it every time. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have a mastectomy. She took it in stride. She was very aware of the procedure being an RN and was prepared for the consequences when she went into surgery.

It was a big ordeal for our family and the last thing we were thinking was "hey, I wonder if the people who puts out this literature is doing anything nefarious." She survived and it has been more than ten years. My mother even signed up and did a blind study for certain drugs they were testing for cancer survivors that went on for five years. So it disturbs to see this me when my mother was so selfless with her health to help further research for people who will suffer the same condition as her.

I will make myself aware of every product or endorsement Susan G. Komen for the Cure is behind or whoever is supporting them and will be sure not to purchase it. I will also make a donation to Planned Parenthood for all the good things they do. It is disgusting for them to bring politics into the matter.
