Verizon Fee: Mobile Network Operator Scraps Convenience Fee After Customer Uproar

It matters a little bit. I see more free thinkers among the Democrats. Don't get me wrong, I'm an Independent and always have been but The Republicans have shown me nothing in the way of individualism. They vote down the party line and if they don't they get attacked by someone in their own party. I, like many other Americans, don't feel like we have "a stake in the game" because we aren't rich enough. If that trend continues it will not end well.

Obama Administration Cuts Major Part Of Health Care Reform Law: CLASS Long-Term Insurance Program Canceled

So many people, and I use that term loosely, are happy because Democrats couldn't find a way to help you in your older years when you will be more dependent on others for help. No disappointment in the fact that all politicians regardless of creed could come together to try and help mankind in their years of most vulnerability!

I have seen with my own eyes how people who thought they had all their bases covered still lost everything because nursing homes cost $7,000 and up per month. That doesn't include any of the medical expenses and only covers the barest of necessities. That is the cost for the lowest of the low nursing home. Truly sad!

Herman Cain 999 Plan: Did It Come From SimCity?

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/10/9-9-9-plan-would-almost-double-taxes-on-middle-class/

"If you have a family of four with an income of just under $50,000, they could end up paying more under the Cain plan. Currently, they are taxed around $3,850 in income tax. Under Cain’s plan, they would be taxed at 9 percent or pay $4,500.

That’s $650 more.

Although the family would save almost $4,000 in Social Security taxes, it would have to give up the child tax credit worth the same amount. Furthermore, it would pay an additional national sales tax of 9 percent on everything purchased, including groceries and clothes, which totals about $2,000.

That means under the Cain plan that family could end up paying $2,725 more.

“It’s going to raise the price of just about everything by about 9 percent,” said former George W. Bush economic policy adviser Bruce Bartlett. “We know from experience and analysis that that tends to hurt people with low incomes.”

The Cain campaign says that his plan will not hurt people with lower incomes because under his plan employers would save $4,000 in social security taxes. That money could then be passed along to the employees creating a system in which everyone benefits."

Do you really think employers would pass the $4,000 savings in social security taxes to you?

Is that a tax plan you could believe in?

Elizabeth Warren: 'I'll Survive' Scott Brown's 'Jabs'

Is it lost on all of the defenders of Scott Brown and these alleged Republican women that "stripping" flies in the face of "The Party of Family Values"? Not to mention these supposed Republican women are defending a man who put woman down because of her appearance. Warren made a whimsical joke about a factual matter and then went on to answer the question. Brown debased a woman for her appearance. That is so "Christian" of him!

In Missouri:

"Last month, the Republican-controlled legislature passed one of the nation's toughest state laws aimed at strip clubs and other adult-entertainment venues. It would ban nude dancing and the serving of alcohol in adult cabarets, force strip clubs to close at midnight and forbid seminude [sic] dancers to touch patrons."

Scott Brown: 'Thank God' Elizabeth Warren Didn't 'Take Her Clothes Off'

I also am a big fan of Elizabeth Warren and when she made her remark it was meant as a joke. In poor taste maybe but it was true regardless. What Scott Brown said was mean spirited and a slap to people he doesn't consider as good looking as he is. What she said was a fact and what he said just reinforces a lot of women's self image problems. All he did was try to belittle her and at the same time try to make her out to be an elitist by saying she went to Harvard when she didn't.

I do agree though, we should stick to facts. It reminds me of a saying somebody, which I fanned and can't recall, said:

*A decreased risk of urinary tract infections.

*A reduced risk of sexually transmitted diseases in men.

*Protection against penile cancer and a reduced risk of cervical cancer in female sex partners.

*Prevention of balanitis (inflammation of the glans) and balanoposthitis (inflammation of the glans and foreskin).

*Prevention of phimosis (the inability to retract the foreskin) and paraphimosis (the inability to return the foreskin to its original location).

*Circumcision also makes it easier to keep the end of the penis clean.

Obama Healthcare Plan: Justice Department Joins States In Call For Prompt Review Of Law

"By 2014, the Affordable Care Act will prevent insurance companies from cutting off health care payments when people need them the most. Planned Parenthood Investigation Is An Abuse Of Government Resources, Democrats Charge

I forgot to mention that no man has the right to tell a woman what she has to do with her body. Congress and the states already attempted to force their rights on women and the Supreme court ruled against them. Hence you have Roe Vs. Wade. It's done. Time to move on. We have more important things to worry about. There are no others rights to be concerned about.

Planned Parenthood Investigation Is An Abuse Of Government Resources, Democrats Charge

Yes, I agree Planned Parenthood shouldn't be getting kicked around. But part of the courts argument was that the Government had no business getting between a decision made between a woman and her doctor.

"Since Griswold, the Supreme Court has cited the right to privacy in several rulings, most notably in Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973), where the Court ruled that a woman's choice to have an abortion was protected as a private decision between her and her doctor."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griswold_v._Connecticut

"Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973),[1] was a landmark controversial decision by the United States Supreme Court on the issue of abortion. The Court decided that a right to privacy under the due process clause in the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution extends to a woman's decision to have an abortion, but that right must be balanced against the state's two legitimate interests for regulating abortions: protecting prenatal life and protecting the mother's health."

Rick Scott Backs Drug Tests For Welfare Beneficiaries, Public Workers And Himself

You left out a lot of context. For example:

"She's been homeless since she was 18. She's now 27 and is pregnant again right now. She says she's staying off drugs until she gives birth but it's tough with an abusive boyfriend.

"If he finds out I went to a treatment center, his words were if I leave him or go to treatment center or anything like that he'll kill me so that's the reason I'm not leaving yet," said Souza."

Society has failed so many people and will continue to until we fix that part of our community. Morgan Freeman: Tea Party Is Racist, They're Out To Get Obama

Republicans abused the little bit of authority they were given. They filibustered in record numbers as part of their plan to not allow anything to get done under Obama. So Democrats had no chance of getting anything done. The only saving grace were the three Republicans that didn't totally sell out their principals to keep him from getting anything done. But they still kept any meaningful legislation from getting through so I guess "mission accomplished"!

All Freeman is doing is calling a duck a duck. There is no other reason you could be so hateful to allow a whole country to fall and lose it's standing in the world. Hate is a strong emotion that has a tendency to override logic. Just ask all the people who were murdered because of that particular emotion.

Morgan Freeman: Tea Party Is Racist, They're Out To Get Obama

Your logic is backwards. I see no other reason other than he is black. It would be different if everything in the country were going just swimmingly and Republicans decided "hey, we're going to help our chances and not give this man anything to brag about when he runs for re-election."

But when this country is in the shape it is in and has been that way since he has taken office you don't play politics or "party first". They can't even bring themselves to help the people who are suffering and there are a lot who are, so why wouldn't you move beyond politics to help the people and the country as a whole? Common sense tells you, and has shown in the past, that when any other white haired old white man was in office Republicans would be doing everything they could and campaigning that they were the bigger "patriots"!

You can trash both parties all you want but Democrats have never put their party before the country. They have always tried to do what was best for the country and always attempted to keep politics out of it when the country needed them. We even have the Iraq war to prove it. They were lied to but in the end they didn't know that and voted to go in because they thought it was best for the country.

Medicaid Poll: Paul Ryan Block Grants Unpopular

What many people do not understand about medicaid:

You may have you're medicare and a decent retirement along with about $100,000 in savings and you may still have the need for medicaid. My father in-law has a good retirement being retired from civil service and the Air Force. His wife managed to save probably about $150,000 and had her social security. She became ill with Alzheimer's and had managed to blow about $30,000 in her sickness.

My father in-law took care of her a lot longer than most people would before he finally looked into finding a nursing home to put her in. They promised each other they would not put the other into a home and he was determined to keep his promise. Unfortunately she became to ill to care for and he had no choice.

He found out medicare would only pay for a two week stay. He had to file for medicaid for her. To qualify he had to get their assets down to a certain level before they would take her. In the mean time he used the savings to pay for her care and that was going quick when he had to pay $8,000/month for the home which didn't include many of the other expenses needed for her care. In the end he had to get rid of half of the assets they spent a lifetime to acquire.

Do not believe just because you will have medicare you won't need medicaid.

Glenn Beck Explodes At Chris Matthews About Bachmann (VIDEO)

There is no defending Beck but regardless the southern States benefited by having slaves counted as3/5 of a person.

"The three-fifths ratio, or "Federal ratio" had a major effect on pre-Civil War political affairs due to the disproportionate representation of slaveholding states relative to voters. For example, in 1793 slave states would have been apportioned 33 seats in the House of Representatives had the seats been assigned based on the free population; instead they were apportioned 47. In 1812, slaveholding states had 76 instead of the 59 they would have had; in 1833, 98 instead of 73. Glenn Beck Explodes At Chris Matthews About Bachmann (VIDEO)

Beck serves no purpose in a growing society. All he wishes to do is misinform for the purpose of padding his pocket. Chris Mathews maybe, and I mean maybe, should not have used the term "balloon head" but he was correct in calling out Bachmann's version of history as false. Regardless it was in no way used or meant to infer any form of violence like Beck is trying to claim and compare to what he says. The best thing that can happen to our society is if people like Beck were held accountable for the "hate speech" and violence he spews.

Bipartisan Group Of Senators Pledges To Work On Revamping 'No Child Left Behind'

Speaking of children being left behind, make sure to boycott or ignore the Palin article and her response to the SOTU. The title already shows it's nothing but a negative tirade.

Egypt Protests: Thousands Fill Streets To Protest Mubarak

And the same "internet blocking" can happen here:

"A bill giving the president an Internet "kill switch" during times of emergency that failed to pass Congress last year will return this year, but with a revision that has many civil liberties advocates concerned: It will give the president the ability to shut down parts of the Internet without any court oversight."

Rachel Maddow Smacks Down CNN For Airing Bachmann's SOTU Response (VIDEO)

The "Tea Party" is not a third party. They are a movement within the Republican party and their only purpose is to demean the President. They use the term "Obamacare" which isn't a real word it is only meant to slander what is "Affordable Health Care for America Act". That is the name of it and to call it anything else is childish and petty. To say the "Tea Party" is a third party would be like calling "Progressives" a third party. CNN has lost any credibility they had with me and it wasn't much. We already have to look outside of our Nation to get most of our "News" and they just made it worse.

Chuck Schumer: Seniors Could Have To Pay Government $250 If Health Care Reform Is Repealed

We've had mandated health insurance nearly since the inception of the Constitution. You should know a little bit of history and law before you go spouting it.

"In July of 1798, Congress passed – and President John Adams signed - “An Act for the Relief of Sick and Disabled Seamen.” The law authorized the creation of a government operated marine hospital service and mandated that privately employed sailors be required to purchase health care insurance.

Keep in mind that the 5th Congress did not really need to struggle over the intentions of the drafters of the Constitutions in creating this Act as many of its members were the drafters of the Constitution."

How can you add any more to that. One of the best characterizations of the situation I've read yet. So poetic and concise.

Censorship At Its Finest

I'm hoping Huffington Post will figure something out about allowing people to post their thoughts without Huffington Post acting as the "Thought Police". I wrote a longer post on my thoughts of this on a different Blog I hope people read it and start coming up with some ideas. Especially the people at Huffington Post. They have a good and credible platform that works except for the censorship of the comment section. The other more laid out post can be found at https://gws1968.wordpress.com/goodbye-huffington-post/

Nearly 50 Percent Of Mental Health Services Recipients In Giffords' County Were Dropped In 2010

Bush helped further the lack of mental health care in this Country. This is just another example of how we are going to suffer for years to come for having eight years of Bush in office. I saw it first hand with friends who were receiving mental health help through the State which had it's Federal funding yanked. In my area alone Albemarle Mental Health stopped helping people with mental problems and allotted all of their resources to just drug and alcohol abuse and that was it. There weren't enough Psychiatrist in the area to take on all of the extra patients that were kicked to the curb much less any that would take Medicaid or Medicare. It's time to restore funding for mental health or things are just going to get worse and Fox viewership will stay on the rise.

Jobs Are Trickling In, But Millions Have Given Up Looking For Work

This is a joke right? They are still trying to tell us the tax cuts are going to create jobs. Telling everybody things are going to be just rosy. The tax cuts don't mean squat, if they ever did, when the price of gas is going up faster than any tax savings can be recognized. We are already seeing forecast of higher prices due to the increase in fuel costs. I didn't see too many prices come down when fuels costs dropped previously and now we get to watch prices rise again. Postal service has cut back. It took one of our Xmas cards over one week to go from NC to NY. Let's not forget the price of the postal service which is steadily rising. And all Congress wants to do is try to bring down President Obama rather than figure out ways to create jobs. This is fluff with no substance.
