Christopher Castillo Arrested After Threatening To Kill Obama On Facebook

It's one thing to show your stupidity and threaten the life of the President on FB which we should all know is illegal. But you truly show your lack of judgment when you make similar statements to the Secret Service while they are questioning you about said stupid comment.

He needed to be taken into custody if he can't even see the seriousness of his situation while being interrogated. Yet I still haven't seen Republicans take the lead on this point in history and truly condemn what their (cult) members are perpetrating across the country. Whether it's threats of violence or secession they have failed, again, to show leadership! Maybe it's time for them to go the way of the Whig Party (into the dustbins of history).

Chrysler, GM Rebuke Mitt Romney Jeep Ad

We will be setting a whole new precedent if Romney wins this election. And I can promise it won't be a good one! Americans need to decide, do they really want someone with such low character in charge of our country? Whether you completely agree with the Presidents policies, regardless of what Fox has told you, he has always tried to do what is right (no pun intended). He has stood up to character assassinations with class and dignity and struck out at nobody except with a little bit of humor. This really is coming down to a serious turning point in our history. Will we, as a whole, do the right thing?

Joe Biden, Paul Ryan Spar Over Obama's 'Horses And Bayonets' Comment In Presidential Debate

I'm not even seeing many reports about Romney stating "Syria is Iran's only ally in the Arab world. It's their route to the sea." Did the press miss this? Iran doesn't even share a border with Syria. Iran's entire southern border is the Persian Gulf and their norther border sits on the Caspian Sea. This statement equals "you can see Russia from parts of Alaska". People need to get off of the "style" side of the debates and seriously concentrate on the facts. Even if facts do have a liberal bias!

In Election 2012, Game-Change Is Status Quo, Senators Say

"Graham said it would show that America's demographics have so changed -- in Democrats' favor -- that a president's stewardship of the economy no longer is a deciding factor."

Nothing changes with Republicans. This is just an example that they believe Americans are deaf, dumb, and blind. Graham wants to pretend we haven't been able to see the Republicans in their obstructionism. He acts as if we don't read and watch the news and reports of them and their "secret meetings" and proclaiming "the single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."

I just haven't figured out if they don't realize we are in the age of YouTube and the internet with access to video and audio of almost everything they say and do. Or do they think people other than themselves are just plain stupid? Romney is the perfect example and quite possibly the epitome of that frame of mind. Otherwise he wouldn't change his position on every issue depending on which way the wind is blowing that day!

Mitt Romney Video: 'Palestinians Have No Interest Whatsoever In Establishing Peace'

"The president's foreign policy, in my opinion, is formed in part by a perception he has that his magnetism, and his charm, and his persuasiveness is so compelling that he can sit down with people like Putin and Chávez and Ahmadinejad, and that they'll find that we're such wonderful people that they'll go on with us, and they'll stop doing bad things. And it's an extraordinarily naive perception."

I would trust President Obama's take on foreign policy than I would Romney's any day. The president probably went to school "with people like Putin and Chávez and Ahmadinejad" thanks to his mother wanting him to have a well rounded education concerning the world and his heritage. Romney on the other hand went to France to during the Vietnam era. There is definitely a difference!

Mitt Romney Libya Response Stoutly Defended At Values Voter Summit

"This week, all too many reporters were attacking like attack dogs for one political party," he said, whipping up the crowd. "They were trying to somehow shift the blame for the events in the Middle East onto Mitt Romney -- are you serious?"

Are they serious? I never heard anyone claim "the events in the Middle East" had anything to do with Romney much less blame him for them. Some people have a vivid imagination and lack class and acumen. These people are trying to lie their way into the White House and if we allow that to happen our generation will go down in history as an epoch which will lead to the downfall of our country if not, at the very least, what it stands for.

Mitt Romney Accepts GOP Nomination In Speech, Says Country Must 'Turn The Page'

"Americans have supported this president in good faith". Yes we have but we have also sat by feeling helpless as the President held his hand out to the Republicans in Congress, sometimes to the dismay of his supporters, and have it smacked. Republicans made it clear from the day he was elected that they would do nothing to help him which meant in turn they would do nothing to help Americans. Republicans made good on their promise and even bragged about being the "party of no!"

The sooner we can be rid of Republicans the better off we will be. We will be able to get to the job of running the Country because I have no doubt that even if we had 100% Democrats in both Houses that the majority would be intellectually honest enough to do the right thing for us. They wouldn't pass laws based on party line B.S. I would prefer to see the House filled with Independents and Democrats and leave this bunch of Republicans on the sidelines of history!

Mitch McConnell Speech At 2012 Republican Convention Casts Obama As Not Quite American

I feel like I'm watching a history reel from the 1930's era Germany! We aren't exceptional just because we are who we are. We don't do exceptional things anymore and we have in large part the Republican frame of mind for that.

When McConnell says "[i]t just doesn't occur to an American that someone else will solve their problems" he is lying. I see it in some of my own family when they tell me "I just don't keep up with all of that political stuff". This is exactly how the Republican party wants it. These are the types who vote Republican because they are susceptible to their propaganda. Everybody knows the reason Republicans remain so well versed at messaging is because they know how to tell a good story (lie). Average people get bored with facts and figures so anybody else who tries to explain something to them loses their interest quickly.

TV commercials even make fun of the fact people have such a short attention span. The main one that comes to mind is of the woman who is so concerned that her parents aren't social enough because she "read an article....well, most of an article" and signed them up on Facebook. So yes, most Americans aren't overly concerned about our problems and figure someone else will solve it for them. Other than that, this is just another "he isn't like us" moment! Shameful. Hearing this doesn't make me feel "exceptional". Just embarrassed.

Jeb Bush: Republican Party Needs 'To Reach Out To A Much Broader Audience' (VIDEO)

We have the Republican party rerunning "The Southern Strategy" in the 21st century and Jeb thinks voters will see what Mitt has to offer during the convention. Well my prediction is voters will get even more turned off after the convention gets turned into the "hatefest" it has been gearing up to be. Time will tell but considering Romney didn't even get the typical "bump" in the polls after he picked his running mate. I realize he and his staff believe he is an Etch-a-Sketch but the critical thinking American doesn't forget and can use YouTube.

As far as Jeb claiming President Obama needs to stop blaming his brother for things and "move on", we will when we can "move on" from everything that his administration caused. Until the Republican party either begins to work with the President or gets out of the way we can't. If they truly believed President Obama couldn't get the economy going then they should have given him the chance instead of blocking him at every turn and blocking everything he tried unless it helped them and the 1%.

'Chris The Baker': In Chris McMurray, Republicans Find The Next Joe The Plumber

It's time for the media to leave these "side shows" out of the main discussion. Leave them to say what ever they want to the rest of the cul...followers of the right at the particular events. But they aren't news. They are tools being used by the campaign or using the campaign to grow their business. Kind of a symbiotic relationship which does nothing to help the public except to confuse the issue. Most thinking people who heard what the President said understand what the meaning of "that" is. Mitt Romney To Donors: I Would Explain My Energy Plan, But Reporters Are Here

Just one more thing Mitt won't tell you because he knows you won't vote for him if you knew what he was going to do.
During a Houston fundraiser, Romney told a room of about 125 donors that he planned to unveil his comprehensive energy plan this week. He said his proposal will specifically relate to fossil-based fuels. But then, he said no more.
"I know that we have members of the media here right now, so I’m not going to go through that in great detail," Romney said, according to a pool report from the event.

FRC Suspect May Have Targeted Traditional Values Coalition: Huff Posts Lack Of Standards

This was my comment to the article at Huffington Post where Traditional Values Coalition President Andrea Lafferty said "she has written Attorney General Eric Holder seeking protection for her group, but that authorities have not been responsive. "Under this Justice Department, Christians are a very low priority on their lists of concerns,"

Huffington Post apparently found my comment didn't fit within their "Guidelines". But comments like this oddly do fit their "Guidelines":

taylo 27 minutes ago ( 8:33 PM)  it is quite shocking to see the liberals say that they "understand" trying to kill conservatives because they are considered a "hate group" ....i think they may justify killing me because i dont agree with their views.but then....i am a gun owner...and the liberals usually dont have guns. usually.
Milo40 26 minutes ago ( 8:40 PM) "Leftists" quite often "hate" more than one "hate group" anybody that disagrees with them is considered a "hate group", so there is many to target.

MATTHEWS: I’m just asking you, should we outlaw gay behavior?

SPRIGG: I think that the Supreme Court decision in Lawrence v. Texas, which overturned the sodomy laws in this country, was wrongly decided. I think there would be a place for criminal sanctions against homosexual behavior.

MATTHEWS: So we should outlaw gay behavior.

SPRIGG: Yes."

Know The Other Side

You want to use the opponent in the title but that is just reactive. They aren't opponents. They are our fellow citizens. They in this case are Republicans. The problem is they look at anyone who doesn't think like they do as the opponent. The best way to conquer this attitude is to first know who or what you are up against.

The Republicans pay good money to a man named Frank Luntz who is an American political consultant, pollster, and Republican Party strategist.

Luntz's specialty is “testing language and finding words that will help his clients sell their product or turn public opinion on an issue or a candidate.”
You see Republicans like to play games with peoples minds. They will stop at nothing including using Psychology against you. But you can , as corny as it sounds, arm yourselves with knowledge. What Conservatism espouses is not what America is about and never has been. But you have a set of people out there willing to pull all the stops to garner your votes to keep them in power.

It wouldn't be too much of an issue except for the fact that Republicans have shown time after time they are in the pockets of the corporations and the ultra-wealthy. They use their words (see Frank Luntz) to make you think you can be like them. The problem is if you aren't rich already then you will never fit into their club. But they sure can use your votes so they offer you crumbs and make you think you can join.

Luckily there are people like George Lakoff who study people like Luntz and politics in general.

What has been learned from the brain and cognitive sciences is that words are defined by fixed frames we use in thinking, frames come in hierarchical systems, and political frames are defined in moral terms, where “morality” is very different for conservatives and progressives. What lies behind the Occupy movement is a moral view of democracy: Democracy is about citizens caring about each other and acting responsibly both socially and personally. This requires a robust public empowering and protecting everyone equally. Both private success and personal freedom depend on such a public. Every critique and proposal of the Occupy movement fits this moral view, which happens to be the progressive moral view.
This is an article worth reading which will help you understand the mindset of Republicans and give you knowledge on how to combat their arguments when they start off on their selfish rants. Check out  "Words That Don’t Work" and then look at the rest of his site. Another article I like to suggest to people is from the Boston Globe called "How Facts Backfire" that may add some context to what Lakoff is saying.

Romney Adviser: It's 'Politically Unwise' To Campaign In Specifics

“What you’re going to see is a campaign that has clear direction, but not a Simpson-Bowles or Ryan-budget level of detail,” the Romney adviser said. “It’s not only politically unwise to do that, but it’s not how the voters engage in a presidential campaign.”

"...we want feedback from Americans about what priorities in the tax code should be kept, and what special interest loopholes we want to get rid of.""

Paul Ryan

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/14/paul-ryan-taxes_n_1777353.html

If you think you are the "Americans" they are referring to when they want "feedback" on what to keep in the tax code and what to remove then I have a bridge I want to sell you. Really, I do! Sadly, it takes a comedian to show just how many of you that Republicans don't think are American because you don't think like them or live in the "real America"! Romney just managed to put down the whole city of Chicago in about five seconds.

So what this boils down to is these two are looking down on you and don't think you can parse the specifics. Or they don't think you want to know specifics. Why? Do they think you will vote for them just because they aren't "that one"? Wool meet eyes!

Mitt Romney's Business Record, Olympics Work Touted In New Campaign Ad

"Best jobs record of any Massachusetts Governor in the last decade." Is he really trying to pull that wool over peoples eyes? If you plan on voting for Romney this is how low he thinks your IQ is. He doesn't expect you to realize that the Governor that came into office after him was looking down a double barrel loaded economy and ready to go off at any minute. Then it did!

Romney doesn't expect you to know that. He just wants you to believe anything he tells you. What should have happened during his one term as Governor is he should have been creating jobs hand over fist because the wealthy were getting their taxes cut thanks to Bush. Remember, it was supposed to trickle on you and you were going to benefit because the rich were getting richer. The reality is something completely different! Wages were stagnant and Massachusetts was 47th out of 50 in job creation. But you aren't supposed to know that because he didn't tell you.

You Should Be Peeved About This

Why is it the Republican leaning counties in Ohio get longer hours and more time to vote early than Democratic leaning counties? Only Those Who Guard the Mystery Of Mitt's Tax Returns Shall Be Unhappy: The 2012 Speculatron Weekly Roundup For Aug. 10

"The Romney message from that point [proving Reid wrong] on can be, "We just proved that the Democrats will resort to anything -- including fraudulent, baseless claims -- to avoid running an honest campaign that they can't win." There is no political downside in Reid getting filleted in public. If you know your opponent is bluffing, you play your winning hand, always."

If this is the case for Romney then why can't the same be said for Reid? Maybe Harry Reid is playing his cards from the point of power. Every card player knows knows, just like they stated in the article, you play your power! all Romney has to do is show us the tax returns like every other Presidential candidate has done since Nixon made taxes an issue. You can believe, because he has already stated, Romney saw Ryan's tax returns. Can you say "hypocrite"!

Romney Wants Business Record Removed From Obama Campaign Attacks

“[O]ur ads haven't gone after the president personally. … [W]e haven't dredged up the old stuff that people talked about last time around. We haven't gone after the personal things.”

This is classic! They know there is nothing they can go after the President with from the "last time around" that hasn't already been debunked six ways to Sunday! If the sensible American people have to relive the McCain campaign again it will be the end and he knows it or they would have gone there already.

Think what you want of McCain but he knew if he went the way of his "rogue" VP pick (whose name shall not be mentioned) he would have lost worse than he did. He did have a few shinning moments from his campaign. Namely when he stood up for then Senator Obama to the "he's an Arab" woman.

I recommend watching "Game Change" if you get an opportunity. I initially cringed when I finally decided to watch it but I think it will surprise you and I also believe it is about as close of a representation from that side of the campaign as you will get. It also shows what we dodged had the election gone the other way! So please Mr. Romney, go the way of the "mama grizzly" and we will see how that works out for you!

But There Is No Republican War On Women

Coulter's view on women who dare to support President Obama is, in my opinion, the way most Republicans view women who don't think like they do.

“I think it’s probably a good sign that Obama is so desperate just to get the base Democratic voter — stupid single women — to vote for him,” Coulter told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Thursday. “This is good news that he needs to lock up that part of the Democratic vote.”
“He’s trying to get the stupid single women voter, which is the Democratic Party base,” Coulter repeated. “And I would just say to stupid single women voters, your husband will not be able to pay you child support if Obamacare goes through and Obama is re-elected. You are talking about the total destruction of wealth. It is the end of America as we know it.”
“Great, you will get free contraception; you won’t have to pay a $10 co-pay, but it will be the end of America. Think about that!”
Even the Republican women are attacking other women! Things are really surreal sometimes.

Richard Muller: 'Humans Are Almost Entirely The Cause' Of Climate Change

It's not fair to attack Muller or anybody who reassesses their position on climate change just because they denied it to begin with. I see a lot of posters doing just that and it is truly unbecoming. If he and others like him sincerely have changed their mind and come to your way of perceiving climate change you should be grateful. You don't have to kiss their butts or anything but you should acknowledge gracefully that they have been able to overcome their ideology.

We need more people coming around at least to the extent that some real research into what we need to do is happening. Then we need some real change that won't happen if you can't convince the opposition to at least look at the situation reasonably. Nobody with any type of influence will be willing to try and talk sense into the Right if they think they will only get attacked for changing their minds. So try to be the bigger person and let it show when you speak (comment) publicly.

Middle-Class Tax Cuts Preserved For A Year In Bill Passed By Senate (UPDATE)

Why do Republicans continue with the "you didn't build that" meme when it has been debunked entirely. Including the fact that Jack Gilchrist, the main character in the commercial, "took over $1 million in government loans since the 1980s". His business also "said that to this day about 10 percent of his business comes from defense-related projects."

http://bit.ly/MVzKhw

Yet WTKR in Hampton Roads continues to show it every commercial break. And now McConnell is following through. They were showing about two and sometimes three pro Romney commercials all evening long yesterday. Not one Obama ad! I don't know if President Obama has bought ads in that market but if not he needs to get on the ball. That station alone reaches a lot of people in Va. and NC with their cable alignment. This commercial is one of the biggest frauds and any person that considers themselves a Republican should be insulted anytime one of their ilk throws anything back at them from it.

Melissa Harris-Perry On Gun Violence Statistics: 'People Are Not Numbers' (VIDEO)

The fact of the matter is nobody is advocating taking away their precious "second amendment rights" to own a gun. All anybody wants is commonsense laws and regulation. The argument for protecting yourself from a "tyrannical Government" is moot because there is no gun you can legally buy that could protect you from the arsenal our Government has.

I know a lot of hunters including family members and I don't know the first one that hunts with an assault rifle. The only people I ever met that had any type of weapon like that were in the drug racket and I knew a few. One man kept his Uzi tucked between the couch cushions where he sat, right next to his cocaine stash among other things. Even the "hunters" he associated with were in awe but weren't interested in having it to hunt with. And even they knew they only needed X amount of rounds to protect themselves and their family.

The sad thing here is we used to be a Nation of commonsense and logic. That has gone out the window for at least the last thirty years and we are regressing. What will it take to put us back on the right path?

As Defense Cuts Loom, Weapons Makers Say Tax Hikes Should Be On The Table

I love the hypocrisy. These two statements just prove it:

"Everybody does exactly what you did today," Smith said as the hearing wound down. "You flatly refused about saying anything about making those choices and dump it all on us. Not only do you flatly refuse to say anything about it, you take steps that systematically kick our legs out from under us as we try to deal with it."

And:

"The House passed the Sequestration Transparency Act in a 414-2 vote, effectively asking Obama for a specific outline of how he will implement the more than $100 billion in automatic cuts triggered by the failure of the Super Committee last fall. That bipartisan panel was tasked with finding a $1.2 trillion deficit reduction package."

You have a committee asking the defense contractors how they should choose to make the cuts and when they are too scared to answer the whole house decides to kick the can to President Obama. And for Cantor to say "[t]ime is overdue for the President to come to the table to work with Congress," shows how little he has been paying attention. I agree with Mudcat Saunders, Cantor is corrupt. If not literally then at least ethically.

In this instance Holder's reference to a "Poll Tax" is not directed at just African American voters. It's for the poor, elderly, disabled, students, and anyone else that doesn't fit into their vision of an eligible voter. This is coming from the party who thinks only property owners should have the right to vote or a school I.D isn't valid but a gun registration is. So the only one referencing race is Perry. Republican Convention 2012 Has Pair Of Shoes With No Sarah Palin In Them

I could remember a time when if you had two campaigns and one was being run as professionally and classy as President Obama's campaign is and with what he has accomplished. The other was coming off looking as if they were running for President for clown school with questionable makeup skills. The latter would have been laughed off of the stage. The former would be winning by double digits and their wouldn't be any question as to who would win.

The fact that this election is even being considered seriously tells me one thing. It has to do with the skin color of the incumbent, non clown. If he was a pasty old white haired man it would be no competition and you will not convince me otherwise.

Verizon Fighting To Censor You

Verizon has decided that since it is a corporation (person) it has the right to censor your content, any content, on its networks, calling censorship another form of free speech. They are taking the FCC to court to fight for this alleged right. According to Verizon:

"[b]roadband networks are the modern-day microphone by which their owners engage in First Amendment speech," ..."Just as a newspaper is entitled to decide which content to publish and where, broadband providers may feature some content over others,"
According to Verizon any traffic that travels over their networks is theirs for the censoring. Seriously! Because anything you text, phone, email, including photos or any other digital communication you send that goes over their networks, since they own the particular networks, gives them the right to censor it. They are actually arguing that censorship is a form of free speech. If that maybe sounded a little repetitive it's because it needs repeating.

Below is the legal filing with all of the legal jargon. But to put it simply Bill Snyder helps layout why Verizon would want to do something like this.

OK. Take a deep breath. I think it's highly unlikely that Verizon will pull the plug on Web sites containing opinions or content that its board of directors disagrees with. I'm hardly a Verizon fan boy, but I simply don't believe it. Does Verizon really want to be responsible for everything distributed on the Web, including libel, theft, and other illegal behavior? Of course not.
So why would Verizon claim a right that it likely has no interest in exercising?
Verizon, in fact, doesn’t really want the power to censor, but it does want the power to discriminate. And by discriminate, I mean the power to treat different forms of content, or content owned by different providers, differently. Here is an example of how that actually works.
If you're a Comcast customer, watching a streaming movie via Netflix will count against your monthly allotment of data. But if you watch the same movie via Comcast’s Xfinity TV app on the Xbox 360, it won't count against your allotment. Comcast, of course, wants people to watch the content that it sells, not the content of a competitor.
If Verizon struck a deal with Microsoft in a world in which net neutrality didn’t exist, it could block content from Google search and allow content from Bing to move ahead. Or, it could create "express lanes" that speed content to users at high speeds, while content from competitors travel in the slow lane.
No matter how you look at it, it isn't right and would set one company up to abuse the internet as we know it.

Iraq-Iran Ties Grow Stronger As Iraq Rises From The Ashes

This sentence: "Fly also blamed many of Iraq's failings on the Obama administration's troop pullout" and this sentence: "But even before the end of George Bush's presidency, the Iraqis insisted on setting a deadline for the departure of U.S. troops" just don't seem to go together. But some people will go to any lengths to attempt to back up their core beliefs. Right or wrong! People want to continually blame President Obama for things done under Bush. All of those poison pills he left laying around will be felt for decades to come.

Truth is many of us know and knew we had no business in Iraq to begin with. What will they be saying when President Obama is no longer in office after another 4 1/2 years, if we make it that long, and they don't have him as their whipping boy, for lack of a better term? Just another failure from the previous decade/administration brought to light. Hindsight really is 20/20!

Lindsey Graham: 'It's Really American' To Avoid Taxes Like Mitt Romney Does

Simply put, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should! When I was making a halfway livable wage I would try my best to spend my money locally. I wanted to support the local economy. Times I could have gone to Walmart and save some money just didn't feel right. I knew I benefited more by keeping it local. I filed my taxes under the 1040ez form because I had no problem paying taxes because it was the right thing to do.

Maybe, if I made millions I would probably take advantage of certain write-offs but I wouldn't go out of my way to avoid paying my taxes and my money would definitely stay in my Country. I can only figure the main difference is I have a conscience. I like having police departments and fire departments. I like knowing there is an agency that is supposed to look out for the interests of people when it comes to the food we eat, the air we breath, or the water we drink. But that's just me!

Black lung surges back in coal country

Are these the "freeloaders" and/or "lazy slackers" certain people, and I use that term loosely, are referring to when there are stories about the "big bad government" and their programs to help people?

WTF-The Tea Party and Slavery

It appears the Tea Party Groups in Tennessee have decided that the teaching the children about the Founding Fathers and slavey are a little depressing and have decided that they want to teach a "sunnier side".

I would like to know exactly what they are leaving out, so I have a list of items for them to respond to:
1-we were brought here in bondage (yes we were sold by our own people, but if the white man hadn't made the deal, we would have been in Africa in peace).
2-we were put on the auction blocks like live animals (and the animals were treated better and sold for a higher price)
     3-our families were split apart
4-our women were often the victims of the masters' sexual lust, many times against her will she was raped and produce offspring of the master!
5-our men and women were handpick not to love each other, but to breed strong young slaves (strong men+strong women=strong children was the thinking)
6-our people were pited against each other early. Master wanted the lighter skinned high yellow sister in his house and in his bed. the darker ones were left in the fields to rot
7-our brothers were beaten and lynched if they tried to protect themselves, their women, their children (and please don't get me started about them looking at white women)
8-our young were not allowed an education
9-Our culture and language, even our names, were taken from us against our will.

This and so much more is a part of our history, our American History. You can not sugar-coat it, you can not give it a "sunnier side". To do so, to water down the history of an entire race of people is to de-humanize them, to make them feel less than who they are. This is not right! This is not acceptable. Tea Party, Republicans, Skinheads, Racists, you all must realize and know that my history is your history and your history is my history. We are all entwined in one way or another, we are all related.
I can only hope the good people of Tennessee fight back against the Tea Party. That they continue to teach history as it is/was, not as some misguided people want it to be.

Ann Romney: Obama Campaign Strategy Is 'Kill' Mitt Romney

You're talking about someone who practices a religion which up until the late 1970's preached that black people were the the mark of Satan. The Romney campaign are openly courting the Tea Party which has members calling for an armed rebellion against the Federal Government http://bit.ly/Npa4L1. They are also courting the Christian right who has members holding conferences which the invitation states “All White Christians Invited” http://bit.ly/NpcQ35.

When will someone step up and actually be a leader and renounce this behavior? This statement is wrong and they should openly apologize. Of course I'm beginning to wonder if they know the difference between right and wrong or do they care. You know, "win at all expense". That's what we've been seeing from republicans for three years now.

Chris Collins: 'People Now Don't Die From Prostate Cancer, Breast Cancer'

I honestly haven't heard the argument "doctors are making a lot more money" except from people who are accusing others of trying to make that claim. There is the debate about doctors and their conflicts of interest when they are sending patients to get tests done at facilities they own a major stake in but that's a different story.

There are hundreds of other reasons for the rise in health care including, but not limited to, insurance companies, medical equipment companies, fraud and waste, profits before anything and on and on.

Regardless people have to have coverage before they can be diagnosed with breast cancer or prostate cancer before they can survive it. All I want to know is what kind of person does it take to back these tools? Unfortunately I know the answer so that is mostly rhetorical. This is really getting exhausting.

On June 28, 2012 The Supreme Court of the United States of America upheld that the Affordable Health Care Law is constructional. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/28/supreme-court-health-care-decision_n_1585131.html.
This is a once in a lifetime moment. A time where you sit and reflect where you were when you heard the news. Then I wondered: Do Americans do that anymore?  Are we so polarized against each other that instead of taking a moment to reflect on the history we are fortunate to be around to witness, our first instinct is to go on the attack.
Why do we do this? Our parents and grandparents used to sit on the porch or around family dinners and talk about what they were doing when important historical events took place. I remember them well and can even remember where my dad was when, like on that fateful Friday, November 22, 1963 when he learned that President John F. Kennedy had been assassinated (he was working in Virginia pouring cement). Or when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was gunned down on Thursday, April 4, 1968 (again working in Virginia). He even remembers what buildings he was working on and once took me to see them. Both are gone now, but I see them as clearly as I see my computer.
I remember where I was on fateful days also-January 28, 1986, the day of the Challenger explosion, I was at the corner of Hoffler Street and Herrington Road heading home to see a soap opera. September 11, 2001, day of the attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon and  Flight 93, I was working with a client making travel arrangements for his job. I remember other days as well, but those two come to mind the most.
I now share my memories with my children and grandchildren to help them understand the human that history happens every day. I want them to have the same fondness of sitting with my "elders" talking about how our country has grown and evolved, about the good and bad of this nation.
Something has happened in our country! It seems that we don't care about each other, we don't respect each other, we don't respect our history. By doing this, what are we teaching our children, the ones who will be the keepers of the flame.
If you read this post, take a moment to reflect where you were on June 28, 2012. Share that moment with your children, rather you agree with the decision or not. Write it down if you must. Let's leave the younger generation with more than some words on a piece of paper, let's leave them some good memories to go with those pieces of paper. (FYI-on the morning of June 28, 2012 I was walking through my home with a snack cake in one hand and a cold soda in the other when I saw the news on the television. And I will share that will my grandchild!)

Romney Now Pandering To African American Voters

On Thursday, Mitt Romney began a quiet push for African-American voters by visiting Philadelphia, where where he was met with boos and cries of "Get Out, Mitt, Get Out". One citizen was actually offended that Mitt would even be in her neighborhood. "It's not appreciated here", Madeline G. Dunn, 78, stated. "It's absolutely denigrating for him to come in here and speak his garbage."

What Mitt needs to understand is that African-American voters have a long memory. We remember how you have been responsible for thousands of Americans losing their jobs while you were at Bain Capital. We remember how you  (and your GOP friends) have lead the push to take away our civil rights. We remember how you (and your GOP friends) have and are attacking women's rights.

What you have to realize is that, for African-Americans, it is not about race. It is about trust! African-Americans don't trust you! We don't trust the GOP! We know that before this presidential race is over, you will make a statement about how you have no intention of helping the poor, women or minorities because we know that you can not upset your base supporters, the super Conservatives in the country.

Now this doesn't make us hate you nor does it make you a bad person. It just makes you a person that we can not and must not elect to the highest office in the land. I implore all African-Americans, women, other minorites to not fall for the words coming from this GOP candidate! Our welfare, our lives, our childrens' future depend on make the correct choice in November.

Is This The Wal-Mart You Know?

In September 2005, a senior Wal-Mart lawyer received an alarming e-mail from a former executive at the company’s largest foreign subsidiary, Wal-Mart de Mexico. In the e-mail and follow-up conversations, the former executive described how Wal-Mart de Mexico had orchestrated a campaign of bribery to win market dominance. In its rush to build stores, he said, the company had paid bribes to obtain permits in virtually every corner of the country.

The former executive gave names, dates and bribe amounts. He knew so much, he explained, because for years he had been the lawyer in charge of obtaining construction permits for Wal-Mart de Mexico.
There is more to this story. I find it particularly disturbing. It is just another example of a major U.S. corporation doing "whatever it takes" to make a buck. Read the rest of the twisted tale at The New York Times...

Rush Limbaugh Show Dropped By CBS Affiliate Station

“The real war on women is being conducted by the regime, by the Obama administration,” he explained. “Since Barack Obama took office, the unemployment rate for women has gone up from 7 to 8.1 percent. … The poverty rate among women rose to 14.5 percent last year, up from 13.9 percent when Obama was immaculated.”

Limbaugh continued: “If there is a war on women, it is happening and it is being directed from the White House with Obama as the generalissimo.”

Politico’s Josh Boak noted last week that job losses for women appeared to be worse than for men during Obama’s presidency because “[a]lmost 3.3 million men were fired during the George W. Bush’s last year in office, while the losses for women were more drawn out over time.”

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/04/09/limbaugh-obama-is-the-generalissimo-in-the-real-war-on-women/

As Rush continues to lie and act like there is no "war on women" being perpetrated by the right. He is actually projecting and trying to turn it around on to Democrats and President Obama. Straight out of the "Karl Rove playbook". Sadly some people will listen to him and believe it. As long as he continues his fictional reality people need to keep up the pressure on advertisers. My money is precious in these times like these as I'm sure it is with a lot of people and I have no problem not spending what little I have on people who continue to support his show.

Fact Checking "Mitt Romney Versus Reality"

I took the time and honestly gave myself a migraine finding every video and/or fact to show if this video has the correct timeline. I shouldn't have to tell you that Romney lies. I mean, if you look up the definition of liar in the dictionary you might very well see a picture of Mitt Romney beside it. But many people were doubting or questioning the timeline of the quotes used in this ad so out of curiosity and to erase all doubt I did the research.

It wasn't hard but it was tedious and mind numbing having to watch the Republican footage and listen to them lie and complain. I took a shot for all of you so you wouldn't have to suffer like I did. So here it is!

Mitt Romney Versus Reality

Segment one:

Romney has been stating "Obama apologized for America" since at least Sept. 22, 2001 at the Orlando debate. Even Politifact, which I believe leans right, Has called him on this lie.
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/sep/22/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-repeats-claim-obama-went-around-world-/

Obama stated in his inaugural speech that he will not apologize for the United States.
President Obama Inauguration Jan. 21, 2009 http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/inaugural-address

Additionally, Factcheck.org gave Romney a "four Pinocchio" rating on this very subject.
http://youtu.be/AGgoVc3tfjc

Segment two:

Romney claims President Obama "has failed to communicate that military options are on the table". Romney makes these claims, to an 11 year old child, just hours after President Obama gave a speech to AIPAC stating:
"I have said that when it comes to preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, I will take no options off the table, and I mean what I say. That includes all elements of American power: a political effort aimed at isolating Iran, a diplomatic effort to sustain our coalition and ensure that the Iranian program is monitored, an economic effort that imposes crippling sanctions and, yes, a military effort to be prepared for any contingency" on March 4, 2012.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0312/73588.html

Also, Israel is concerned Romney is making things worse.
http://thinkprogress.org/security/2012/03/06/439217/halevy-romney-is-making-it-worse-iran/

Segment three:

This one is too easy but here you go. Romney says President Obama hasn't passed tax cuts for the middle class. Again Politifact rated it "True" when David Axelrod stated:
"We passed without, frankly, the help of the Republican caucus, we passed 25 tax cuts last year, mostly aimed at the middle class and small businesses" on Sunday, January 31st, 2010 on NBC's "Meet the Press".
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2010/feb/02/david-axelrod/axelrod-claims-democrats-passed-25-tax-cuts-last-y/

Segment four:

Romney claims to a crowd on March 13, 2012 the reason gas prices are high because:
"Maybe it’s related to the fact that you stopped drilling in the Gulf".

President Obama gave a speech on March 1, 2012 to Nashua Community College, Nashua, New Hampshire. He said:
"when it comes to oil production under my administration, America is producing more oil today than at any time in the last eight years."
Point being you can increase oil production but it is not going to affect the price of gas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=welINKWW9XU

President Obama made this statement almost two weeks before Romney makes his false statement. The facts have been out there much longer.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/post/yes-oil-production-is-booming-under-obama-no-it-hasnt-lowered-gas-prices/2011/08/31/gIQAWv8bsJ_blog.html

Segment five:

Romney claimed President Obama has not approved any new trade agreements with other countries on March 3, 2012 at a town hall meeting held at USAeroteam, an aerospace and defense manufacturer in Beavercreek, Ohio.
http://www.daytondailynews.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/dayton/ohiopolitics/entries/2012/03/03/romney_takes_aim_at_obama_duri.html

President Obama signed "free trade agreements with South Korea, Panama and Colombia, as well as the latest trade adjustment assistance for workers." on October 21, 2011.
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/10/obama-signs-free-trade-agreements/

Segment six:

Romney claims President Obama didn't mention debt or deficit in the State of the Union March 2nd, 2012 at a rally in Cleveland, Ohio. I again refer to Politifact begrudgingly, but if they can call him out anybody could. They gave him a "Pants On Fire" and I could feel the heat from here!
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/mar/05/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-says-president-ignored-debt-problems-s/

In President Obama's defense I'll just give you the link to the State of the Union but those are the clips from it in the ad.
http://youtu.be/6Tlp9Gx4lfo

Segment seven:

Romney tries to make the case that President Obama "fundamentally believes that..that...that this next century is a post American century"during the December 15, 2011 Fox News GOP debate in Sioux City, Iowa.
http://politicalcorrection.org/video/201112150016

President Obama gave a speech at the Alcoa plant in Bettendorf, Iowa on June 28, 2011 where he made the statement "we will lead the way forward and we will make the next century another great American century"
http://www.alcoa.com/locations/usa_davenport/en/info_page/president_obama_visits.asp

So yes the ad is accurate! Can you say the same about any of the GOP ads that are running?

Are People In Michigan Seeing This

I have a hard time fathoming why people aren't in the streets of Michigan protesting all of the extreme overreach their legislature has been pulling since 2010. Whether you are a Republican, Democrat, left, right, Independent, it shouldn't matter. When your own Government is in the wrong you should be speaking out against it.

You have a state Constitution which is supposed to be the law of the land and it is being abused in your name. Republicans want to paint President Obama as a dictator but he has not done his job in the fashion that Republicans in Michigan have done. Yet here we are, Republicans in Michigan destroying democracy. It's maddening to watch them take away your rights and it seems if you consider yourself a Republican it's okay because your side is winning. But this isn't a game and it has nothing to do with sides. Rachel lays it out for everyone to see. I hope you watch and see for yourself.

A Little Levity

Just to break the monotony and get away from the vitriol of the world I decided to upload this little video of a couple of mice we had at one time. We could sit and watch these mice in their wheel for what seemed like hours. They didn't simply just run in it but seemed to enjoy turning flips. Sometimes several mice at one time but unfortunately I didn't get any film of that. But here is a small clip of what I did get. I hope you enjoy it!

More Proof Leaning Towards Hate Crime

The controversy thickens in the Trayvon Martin case. People listen very closely to the 911 call from George Zimmerman have discovered him mumbling "f%&*ing coon" under his breath right before the operator tells him not to pursue the "suspect". If you listen to the 2:20-2:25 section of the call you can clearly hear it. But listen for yourself.

The Dawn Of Another Day: Another Attack

Just to prove my point from the post I made yesterday it is now the next day and a new attack against women. This time it is coming from an Idaho GOP lawmaker who states "I would hope that when a woman goes in to a physician with a rape issue, that physician will indeed ask her about perhaps her marriage, was this pregnancy caused by normal relations in a marriage or was it truly caused by a rape. I assume that's part of the counseling that goes on.”.

This was a comment made by state Sen. Chuck Winder in response to opponents of his forced ultrasound bill brought to his attention that the bill makes no exceptions for rape, victims of incest, or medical emergencies.

I would just like to thank these hatemongers for helping me make my point. In this case the government has no business telling doctors how to do their job. They also need to stay out of the personal relationship between a doctor and the patient. Legislators have no business dictating medicinal practice. The courts will throw all of this garbage out but now it's going to cost taxpayers to do so. We already know they are throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks including women's uteri!

Here is an example of what these sick bastards force women to go through first hand:

'We Have No Choice': One Woman's Ordeal with Texas' New Sonogram Law

The doctor and nurse were professional and kind, and it was clear that they understood our sorrow. They too apologized for what they had to do next. For the third time that day, I exposed my stomach to an ultrasound machine, and we saw images of our sick child forming in blurred outlines on the screen.
“I’m so sorry that I have to do this,” the doctor told us, “but if I don’t, I can lose my license.” Before he could even start to describe our baby, I began to sob until I could barely breathe. Somewhere, a nurse cranked up the volume on a radio, allowing the inane pronouncements of a DJ to dull the doctor’s voice. Still, despite the noise, I heard him. His unwelcome words echoed off sterile walls while I, trapped on a bed, my feet in stirrups, twisted away from his voice.
“Here I see a well-developed diaphragm and here I see four healthy chambers of the heart...”
I closed my eyes and waited for it to end, as one waits for the car to stop rolling at the end of a terrible accident.
When the description was finally over, the doctor held up a script and said he was legally obliged to read me information provided by the state. It was about the health dangers of having an abortion, the risks of infection or hemorrhage, the potential for infertility and my increased chance of getting breast cancer. I was reminded that medical benefits may be available for my maternity care and that the baby’s father was liable to provide support, whether he’d agreed to pay for the abortion or not.
Did you catch the lie in the diatribe doctors are forced, by law, to spread. Abortions do not cause an increased risk of breast cancer. Just the fact that lie is in there proves this is nothing but a scare tactic. These attacks of hate and vitriol should not be allowed to continue. And maybe, one day, enough people will have enough and it will end!

And The Hits Keep Coming

All it takes is the dawn of another day to read a new headline attacking a women's right to healthcare, contraception, or even an abortion. Laws made by men to advance their agenda of interfering with women's healthcare.  Today the attacks are coming out of Tennessee called the Life Defense Act of 2012.

The proposed law "mandates that the Tennessee Department of Health make detailed demographic information about every woman who has an abortion available to the public, including her age, race, county, marital status, education level, number of children, the location of the procedure and how many times she has been pregnant. Each report would also have to include the name of the doctor who performed the procedure."

This just seems unfathomable. When will men figure out once they allow these laws to take hold there will be nothing stopping them from "mandating" different aspects of healthcare for men? It isn't that hard to imagine. Who do you know that has had a taste of power that hasn't wanted more? These are power moves. It might be about women right now but it will be about everyone if laws like these are allowed to stand.

Read about the newest attack against women (humans) here...
